We all know how expensive a wedding of your dreams can be, but have you thought about cutting your costs by making your own homemade flowers from the wedding bouquet and bridesmaids flowers?
Way back when I got married, after pricing up red and white roses for our February wedding (two days after valentines day!), I was shocked to see how the prices had rocketed! Red roses, Valentines day and weddings = expense! I had many florists quoting me between £65-£80 for a fresh bouquet! The overall cost for my homemade flowers was just under £15 and then just my time spent on it to create the look I wanted.
So, what did I do…I made my bouquet and flower-girl posies myself out of silk flowers.
OK, they didn’t have a smell but they looked beautiful and I still have my bouquet to this day which still looks stunning. One florist even offered me a job on seeing it!
I actually use it frequently to decorate our wedding fair welcome tables and have had many people comment on it :)
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love fresh flowers but at the time, I just couldn’t afford that into our tight budget already and to be honest, it was so much fun; the choosing of the flowers, the layout and design of the bouquet itself…I loved it and I still love it to this day. It added an extra special touch to our wedding day too because it was made by me, for us!
I have even made a few foam and silk homemade flowers recently, just to show what can be created with a little thought and minimal budget. See Pics Below….
