I have been involved with photography from a very early age. My love of photography began at the age of 10 when my father gave me a 35mm Ilford Sportsman Camera. It was then that I joined the school photography club and started developing black & white Photos in my mum’s bathroom. I used to use black paper to block out the light from windows and doors and had several developing tanks and a simple enlarger based on waving an ordinary 50watt household lamp over a lens and film holder contraption!
With an active interest in science as well I decided to do a physics degree rather than one in photography. After this I did a Masters degree in Applications of Imaging. So imaging has dominated my life for years with photography being an active hobby – particularly with my jobs as Head of Sales for a scientific Imaging Company in the Midlands and then Director of Imaging for a company based in Farnborough.
Warran Photography started over 10 years ago in the midlands as a part time enterprise doing the occasional weddings for friends and photos for my daughter and her friends on Proms events and the like. Since these early days we have now developed to a full time weddings and life Events Company, specialising in Wedding Photography in the South of the UK located in Weymouth, Dorset and covering surrounding areas as well as some other UK locations, particularly in the midlands.
I am assisted by my wife Judy who has been an artist and designer for many years having achieved a Degree level qualification in Art & Design from Middlesex University and subsequently set up her own business with sales from a Bond Street based firm in London and selling worldwide. Judy now concentrates mainly on painting Birds and wildfowl and is putting on an exhibition of her work at Slimbridge in July 2014.
